Marvellous Mathilda's Market

Firstly we, at Miss Chief Designs would like to thank the Mathilda's Market organisers. We had such a wonderful day, although the early start was a bit rough, but we had a wonderful time getting to know all the stall holders. Next to us was Pinnigan, with their beautiful soft dolls. We were also across the room from an old favorite, Small Print. Sonia had her hubby working hard for the day, as they also had a stall in Eastlands. Once we stopped gossiping, we realised we forgot the camera, both mobile phones and our change for the float... With all the dramas out of the way, 9am brought the massive crowds! We were flat out all day and nearly sold out of 'little miss' bags, so look out for lots of very important little girls out there carrying their beautiful bags.
We received fantastic feedback. Alex, who runs a business in Sandy Bay, Forget Me Not, asked if we would like to stock our products in her shop! We also had another gentleman who grabbed a business card and our phone number and said he was also interested in stocking our products. so we were very chuffed by this stage!
I managed to sneak away and buy myself some goodies. I brought Little Middy some Huggalugs and a green nappy pack from Green Kids, Holly from Green Kids was fantastic, I normally wouldn't even consider green nappies for Little Middy, but Holly explained to me all the benefits and I was sold! (BTW they are fantastic!). Middy in her skirt mummy made and her beautiful Huggalugs

I had a first birthday party to go to on Sunday, so I wandered over to the lovely Ruby Victrola Letter Press and purchased a beautiful card for my little cousin.
Now that I had shopped for everyone else, I figured I deserved something.... I have always admired and followed Notions blog, so that was my first (and last stop). I spoilt myself with a beautiful bird brooch, which I have worn everyday to work and it looks stunning. So thank you Rosie.
At 1pm, we went home with massive smiles on our faces and very thick wallets, with promises of doing the next Mathilda's Market! BRING ON JULY!

Rain = Sewing!

Miss Chief Designs welcomes the rain today! We have had a very busy week, I have gone back to work full-time and Little Middy is now going to daycare. Luckily we had Little Miss (little Middy's cousin) come along to our visit on Monday and check it all out for us. She already goes to 'school' and needed to check that it had good toys, friends and the people were nice. Luckily for Little Middy, she also checked for "fires"? bit random... but you will be glad to know, there were NO fires! so if that was busy enough...We had to put down our family cat of 15 yrs. :'( It was one of the hardest and saddest days I have had for a long time. She will be sorely missed, especially by me and little Miss, as she was "Our cat" but what a life, did "Our Cat" have! RIP Loui girl.Today is back to some normality and we are sewing frantically, trying to get everything completed for the Mathilda's Market this Saturday, hope to see you all there!

My Creative Space

Autumn has arrived *brrr* so I thought what better time to make Little Middy some new warmer garments. I haven't really used a sewing machine a great deal before, well to be honest, I *cough* failed sewing in college (if only that teacher could see me now! *wink*). But I thought "why not give it ago" and here is my first attempt, of a winter skirt for my girl. Now what to do for my next challenge......... although I might make her a few more colours yet, a girl HAS to have the same garment in many different colours (to match her shoes of course!).

Dodges Ferry Market

Arh, the joys of having a market in your home town. Dodges Ferry is such a vibrant sensational place to be and the locals are fabulous! (yes, that includes you Mum!). I am still in the process of conning Mr. H, to move back down there. I have got him as far as Midway Point.

Anyway, Back to the market.
We met some very lovely stall holders at the Market on Sunday. and one of Miss Chief's favs traveled down for the day, The Bomb Squad, we LOVE these girls and their products
.

We also met one very lucky woman, she was admiring some of our bags, and about an hour later her hubby rushed back down and brought it for her, as a lovely surprise! yes we agree, we need to clone men like this!
My beautiful cousins and their bubby's (although one is still in the warm, safe place, of, Mrs A's tummy) came down to support and visit us. It was so nice to see them and they left with some lovely pieces.

The last Dodges Ferry Market (until Summer) is on the 4th of April, we would love for you to come along and have a look. You wont be disappointed.

And last but not least, a beautiful photo of Little Middy, wearing her new top, designed by mummy. xx

Lollipops and Dinosaurs.

Do your littlies get you to carry around ALL of their favourite things when you go out? Mine does, or she starts off carrying and then somewhere between the car and the market/shop/park/toilet she decides it's "all too much" and either drops them in the midst of a HUGE tantrum consisting of screaming, crying and general thrashing of limbs and shouting "they are too heavy, my arms/legs/bum/fingers are aching".

Well we have a solution (sounds like the beginning of a Danos ad doesn't it - sorry no steak knife here), get your little cutie a bag of their own.

So here is a sneak peek of the mini tote's and shoulder bags we are making.

Look for them at Mathilda's Market on the 27th March, but be careful you wont be able to resist them for the littlies in your world. More pics when we have finished them and one of these darlings will be part of a huge give away - so get ready.

Oh this last one is a 'one off' and so far it is looking mighty cute, well it does have sparkly beads, tutus, princesses and castles - a whole heap of girly goodness.

Beautiful Bags

Well what a rainy start to our long weekend :-(. Good for the garden though and to fill up my water tanks. It also lends itself to just a little bit of sewing. I have finished a new load of bags all ready for the upcoming markets and was so pleased when I loaded them onto Miss Chiefs' Facebook page and a couple were sold within minutes - makes a lassy a little chuffed.
Miss Chief is gearing up for a give away so get yourself and all your friends all ready to comment madly.
I am not sure which of these bags are my favourite, certainly Purple Daze is grabbing the attention, but I also love the cheeky cowboy tote - just appeals to my sense of humour. I'll let you decide for yourself.
Beach Babies

Yippee Ki Yay
(A.K.A. as Spunky Trunks *grin*)

Yee Haw

Purple Daze

Purple Daze
(shoulder)

I love them all, sometimes I think they are like my babies and its hard to sell them - but then I think - I can always make more babies *grin*
Which one is your favourite?

Have a dry weekend!

Mess and Cowboys

What a weekend we have had so far - off to the launch of our friend's new business Parents Wisdom on Friday night - that was so much fun and Middy stole the show flashing her nappy and generally being the life of the party, she is so cute all you can do is laugh at her and her silliness. Girly is still recovering from having her plaster removed so she sat quietly and did some art work in the room specially set up for littlies. Girly particularly loved Little Artist and Penny was so patient with her. It was a great night and we wish Tracey much success with Parents Wisdom.
Saturday was spent mainly with visitors popping into see Girly and her bare legs so it wasn't until late in the afternoon that we got to create some mess and WOW what a mess we created. Lots and lots of lovely fabric mess, cotton, paper, interfacing but I can guarantee from this mess will come some beautiful bags - all ready for the Dodges Ferry Artisans Market on the 7th March.
We are always creating new 'systems' to try and organise and streamline our sewing and our space - which is very limited. Our latest idea is to peg all the bits and pieces that go into making our bags onto a clothes horse - we will let you know if it works - seems OK at the moment. Well at least we wont be spending half my time crawling around on the floor looking for that strap or that pouch. Here is a sneak peek at one of our 'different' bags - wouldn't you love this spunky cowboy hanging over your shoulder and close to your.........HEART............ Sorry he is a little blurry - those damn cowboys can run really fast and it was a battle to catch him *grin*
Bye for now Miss Chief

So much to do, so little time to do it in!

WOW! what a week... tick, tick, tick (my brain working overtime).
I have now started an 'ideas' book, as I can't sleep at night with all the millions of ideas flowing through my head, and it is proving to be fantastic.
I feel a bit sorry for Middy and Mr H, as i have barely had time to scratch myself lately! we have new business cards, new logo and new labels.. plus i am launching my new EcoWear clothing (watch this space).
I also did a minni middy photo shoot this morning, luckly for me Middy loves being outside, so i got some beautiful photos of both bubby and her outfit.
I have been visiting the local op shops and wow have i picked up some fantastic treasures for our stall display, its amazing how the imagination can work, i was a bit worried bringing some of my 'fantastic finds' home to hubby :-p.
Our next market is at Dodges Ferry on the 7th March, come along and check out all our new gear!

In love

Missy is in bed and its quiet - mainly because she told me to turn the telly down - cheeky bugger!

I have had a productive and messy day and am a little excited by the 'new' things I made today.

I spent some time last night dying some cream wool blankets using food dye, white vinegar and hot water -recipe here - this is the first time I have used this process and I was amazed how effective it is. I didn't even measure anything, just chucked it all together and voila.

I love these pouches, the colours, the texture and that they allow a few errors without too much stress (of course i don't make mistakes). They just cheer me up and make me want to make hundreds and hundreds - well maybe 10 or 20 *grin*

This bag uses a new technique of using contact to creat a water proof section, sorta like oilcloth. It wasn't as easy as it sounded and a few choice words escaped my pure lips - I stitched and unpicked and ironed and finally here it is. I am happy with it and it is a little quirky. I love the material "Dysfunctional Family' by Michael Miller - it is so funny and maybe just a little bit true!

Well best get back to it. Time to clean up now :-(

Playin' around

Well I finally managed to find the time to sit and write a post. I have had fun today playing around with some new ideas - I actually think they are going to be successful. Usually the pictures in my head never correspond with what finally comes out.
I have been using the food colouring technique to dye some old cream wool blankets - -$2.00 each at the local oppy and I am hoping to turn them into brooches - cut up of course or they would be HUGE brooches and some pouches. I will show them to you when I get them done to my satisfaction.
I also have been working on a new technique in my bag making and OH MY I think I love it.
Here is a peek at my 'projects' and for now night night
Tracey

I have buckled under pressure of not wanting to miss out on a fantastic market!
So Mathildas here we come!
This market is going to be HUGE, take a look at their webpage and see all the magnificent stall holders.

The Barn Market

Wow! what a beautiful market.
We had so much fun, met so many lovely stall holders and visitors. It's so hard not to spend all your money on the other gorgeous products.. we did spoil ourselves a little, we brought yummy bath bombs from the Bomb Squad. I also couldn't go past a beautiful growth chart for Middy, from Jasmin Rose.
As you can see, we all had so much fun with the photo booth, which was free at the market and such a great personal touch.
Our next market is on March the 7th and Dodges Ferry, so we will be busy sewing, sewing, sewing - especially Tracey, as we have nearly sold out of bags.
So watch this space for new stunning bag designs.

I have finally been convinced...

After months and months of people telling me to start a blog for Miss Chief Designs, here it is.

Welcome to the blog for Miss Chief Designs.
Let me introduce the brains, skill and dedication behind Miss Chief.
Tracey my mother and loving grandmother to LL 8, Girly 4 and Middy 1.

Becky , I live in upper Moonah (Moonah Heights I like to call it :-p) I have a beautiful 1 year old daughter Middy, she is the light of my life and the reason why I decided to start designing childrens clothing. I am also married to the most amazing supportive, kind hearted man, Mr H. All in all, I am one very lucky woman.

In this blog, we hope to bring you laughter (or LOL as it is these days..), an insight to Miss Chief's hard work and new designs and where and when our up coming markets will be
